The Churches of Revelation - Smyrna, Thyatira, And the Mystery of Pergamon
We begin our journey in the second of the Seven Churches of Revelation – Smyrna (Rev 2:8-11). Then we journey to another of the Seven Churches – Thyatira (Rev. 2:18-29). We’ll see the ancient roadway and the period columns. Thyatira was once busy center and famous as a “seller of purple.” It was the most favored of the Seven Churches. This was the city of the woman John calls Jezebel. The Apostle Paul and Silas may have walked here (Acts 16:13-16). And this is the place from which the disciple Lydia came. We then journey to land of Pergamon to one of the most fascinating of mysteries – to the Throne of Satan. You’ll be carried up on a breathtaking ride by cable car up to the top of the ancient high place of Pergamon. The church of Pergamon was praised for its forbearance (Rev. 2:12-17). It appears to be here that the first Christians were executed by Rome. We’ll visit the famous Acropolis of Pergamon, pass through the Royal Gates, see the great ancient library, and the temples of the ancient gods. Then you’ll go to the heart of the mystery, to the “Great Altar.” And here, Jonathan will open up the deep and powerful revelation of the mystery of Pergamon and the Throne of Satan.

EPHESUS! (ACTS, EPHESIANS, & REVELATION)

Ephesus! (Acts, Ephesians, & Revelation)
We embark on a journey to one of the most important places in the New Testament, Ephesus. Ephesus is unique in that it appears in Revelation, the Letters of Paul, and the Book of Acts. It is the first of the Seven Churches of Revelation and the site of one of the most dramatic moments in the Book of Acts. It gave birth to one of the most majestic Epistles in the Bible, the Book of Ephesians. The apostles were here. Paul was here. We start the day at one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the center of the conflict and uproar in the Book of Acts – the Temple of Artemis. There, in this crowning temple of the pagan world, Jonathan will open up the mystery of the gods, and we’ll declare and worship the God of Israel! Then you’ll walk through the spectacular remains of this amazing city – You’ll see the Library of Ephesus, the mosaics, the Agora, the marketplace, where Paul would have preached. You’ll see the Great Stadium, the same place, where the riot in the Book of Acts took place. And you’ll partake of communion just as the ancient Ephesian believers did – and by one of the earliest churches in the world.

Take an optional excursion tour to Heraklion and the ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 and partially reconstructed, the elaborate Palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. Walk through the streets of Crete and see the age-old Church of Titus. This afternoon you can visit the island of Santorini which is perhaps the most breathtaking and beautiful of all the Greek Islands. It is believed that Santorini was the inspiration on which the legend of the fallen land of Atlantis was based. CORINTH AND CENCHREA

Corinth and Cenchreae
We disembark to journey to the famed city of Corinth & Cenchreae. We land in Greece and travel west with a rest stop and photos at the Corinth Canal. Next, we visit ancient Corinth, one of the most important places in the early church - the city that inspired many of Paul's most familiar letters including 1 and 2 Corinthians and the Book of Romans. It is a highlight for the New Testament scholar. See the Market Place where Paul would have ministered, the actual object and spot by which the apostle Paul actually stood, the place where the ancient synagogue stood and in which Paul shared the Gospel, the Temple of Apollo, and more. The ruins of this important cultural center are fascinating as we walk along the stone path that the Apostle Paul walked. Travel on to the top of the nearby Acropolis where our guide will speak on the worship practices and point out the bird’s eye view of what was a bustling city of around 800,000 during Paul’s stay. We will then go to the shore of Cenchrae, the ancient port of Corinth. Acts 18:18 states the Apostle Paul stopped at Cenchreae during his second missionary journey, where he had his hair cut to fulfill a vow. We’ll go to the exact port where Paul would have set sail. There we’ll partake of Communion and worship the Lord!
